The area is well served with a good range of eating places, good local food shops and restaurants. Many serve a selection of the excellent local food and drink produced in the area. The shop in the village approx 5 minutes walk from the Mill stocks all essential items, papers and some local produce, open early to late, and open Sunday morning. There is another convenience shop 2 miles away, with a post office and garage, open till 7.30pm Many local towns offer a range of good shops. Carmarthen is a 15-minute drive away and has the usual supermarkets and department stores, but also has a market selling local produce, including an award-winning cheese-maker, and an excellent butchers and fishmongers.
There is a farmers' market on the first Friday of the month. Art galleries, restaurants and local shops in its old streets are all worth a visit, and the ruined medieval castle above the town gives fantastic views of the Towy valley.
Smaller towns like Llandeilo, a shopping hot spot with its fashionable galleries and boutiques and Newcastle Emlyn, historic town with shops, inns and another ruined castle overlooking the Teifi are good days out.

Unspoilt beaches are within 30 mins, Llanstephan in the south with its miles of sandy beaches overlooked by a ruined castle, and the secluded coves of Cardigan coast where seals abound. The National Botanic Garden and Aberglasney are within easy reach, as well as a number of National Trust properties like Dinefwr, Llanerchaeron and the goldmines at Dolaucothi.
